As platelet demand continues to increase and apheresis donors become more challenging to recruit, blood centers are looking to whole blood-derived platelets. The U.S. collects 9.8 million whole blood units annually, and over 94 percent of those platelets are discarded. Whole blood-derived platelets allow blood centers to maximize the whole blood donation.
Please join us as South Texas Blood and Tissue shares their experience starting their whole blood-derived platelet program.
